Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate of Police on Thursday raided a dance bar at Laxmisagar here and rescued 10 girls.
The girls were rescued when a musical performance was underway inside the bar without licence. The bar owner could not show necessary approvals for employing bar girls at the time interrogation, police sources said.
Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahoo said that the action against these bars will continue. The Excise Department will be apprised of the matter and they will take action accordingly.
The bar manager and a couple of staff have also been detained for questioning, he added.
On May 2018, Commissionerate Police conducted a surprise raid on a dance bar at Laxmisagar on Cuttack Road. Eight girls were rescued from the spot. The bar was later sealed.
