Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital saw a marginal rise in the daily COVID caseload on Monday with 619 more people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
The city had reported 574 cases the previous day. Fresh infections had fallen to 581 on January 8 from the week’s highest of 638 on January 7 since the third wave struck the state earlier this month and cases spiralled from January 5.
According to the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, 51 of the new cases are from quartine and 586 local contacts.
Among the local contacts, the highest of 39 have been reported from Old Town, 26 from Patia, 25 from Jharpada and 20 each from Laxmi Sagar and Niladri Vihar.
The city also saw 117 recoveries and now has 3325 active cases.
