Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation has formed over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal off South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh coasts, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Saturday.
It further stated that the monsoon trough is also running through Sambalpur, Gopalpur and east-southeastwards to east central Bay of Bengal.
Under their influence, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places in Nuapada, Kalahandi, Rayagada and Gajapati districts on Saturday (September 6).
Thunderstorm along with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj,Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri.
On September 7, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may continue at one or two places Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
Thunderstorm along with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.
Thunderstorm activity may continue in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj,Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati districts on September 8.
Heavy rain is likely to resume the following day with warnings issued for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Gajapati, Rayagada and Nuapada.
Thunderstorm along with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may also occur in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri on September 9.
The weather agency has also warned of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph for one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh on September 10.
Thunderstorm along with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may also occur in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur and Rayagada.
Though there is no weather warning thereafter, light to moderate rain may continue at many places across the state during the subsequent 5 days, it added.
