Mumbai: The Mumbai police have reportedly summoned actor Arbaaz Khan in connection with the IPL betting case. According to reports, the actor has been asked to record his statement by the Thane police onSaturday.
The actor’s name cropped up while the police was interrogating a bookie named Sonu Jalan, who was arrested on Tuesday.
Arbaaz, who is the younger brother of Salman Khan, was allegedly placing bets in IPL through Sonu Jalan, on online betting sites. He had allegedly lost Rs 2.80 cr in bets and was being threatened by Jalan.
“His software called ‘Bet and Take’ is quite famous among bookies and is used by them in India and internationally as well. His arrest is big, as it will help us unearth the national and international network of bookies,” police inspector Rajkumar Kotmire of the Thane anti-extortion cell was quoted by DNA.
If reports are to be believed, the bookie has connections with Dawood Ibrahim’s gang which runs a cricket betting mafia. He has been arrested several times by the police earlier.
