Actor Babushaan Tonsures Head, Performs Asthi Visarjan In Puri After Wrapping Up Shoot

Puri: Three months after the death of his father, actor Babushaan Mohanty performed Asthi Visarjan puja along with ‘Mundan’ ritual at Puri sea beach in Odisha on Sunday.

He was accompanied by his mother Aparajita, wife Trupti, relatives and close friends.

Babushaan had not shaved his head after performing the last rites of his father, veteran actor Uttam Mohanty who passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Gurugram on February 27, owing to a film project.

“My father had taught me that work is worship. A lot is at stake when a shoot is on as it involves many people and their livelihood. After wrapping up the shoot, I came to Puri to perform the remaining rituals. I feel at peace now. I usually visit Puri to offer prayers to Lord Jagannath after finishing a film, but this time, as I am not allowed to enter the shrine for a year following my father’s death, I asked my mamu (uncle) to offer a ‘bana’ (flag) on my behalf to seek blessings,” the actor told reporters.

Babushaan later submerged the ashes of his father at Sagar Bije Ghat near Swargadwar.
