Durg: An actor, director and producer was arrested from his office in Bhilai for allegedly raping his niece for 12 years.
The victim, aged 29 years, claimed that Chhattisgarhi actor Manoj Rajput had been sexually exploiting her since 2011 – when she was a minor — on the pretext of marrying her.
The woman’s complaint was recorded at GRP-3 Bhilai Police Station under Sections 376 and 377 of IPC and also Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POSCO) Act.
“On February 22, she (the victim) lodged a complaint at Old Bhilai railway police station about Rajput sexually exploiting her since 2011 on the pretext of marriage. After he reneged on his promise, she approached police,” Station House Officer (SHO) Rajkumar Borjha said.
The woman claimed that despite being in a physical relationship with her for 12 years, the actor refused to keep his promise of marriage, and has been raping her and conducting unnatural actions for several years.
A local court, where Rajput was produced, quashed the provisions of POCSO Act citing the law did not exist in 2011 when the exploitation allegedly started, informed Borjha.
Rajput, who has produced and directed Chhattisgarhi movies, made his acting debut in the recently-released film ‘Gaon ke zero ahar ma hero.’
He had earlier dabbled in real estate and was even in jail for a case of land fraud.
