Mumbai: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is undergoing a surgery at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital after being stabbed two to three times in his home in the early hours of Thursday by an unidentified man at his Bandra home. According to reports, the man had barged into his house in a burglary attempt.
Police said the accused had a fight with Saif during which the actor was stabbed. Some family members of the actor were present in the house at the time of the incident, an official told India Today.
A probe has been launched by the Mumbai Police to trace the accused.
“An unidentified person intruded into the residence of actor Saif Ali Khan. The actor and the intruder fought. The actor was injured and is being treated. An investigation is going on,”Deputy Commissioner of Mumbai Police, Dixit Gedam, told reporters.
A statement was also released from Saif Ali Khan’s team. The statement has urged media and fans to be patient.
“There was an attempted burglary at Mr Saif Ali Khans residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation,” the statement read.
Filmfare reported that the incident took place when Saif was helping his family climb down the stairs. He intervened by putting himself in between the intruder and his family.

The actor’s wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan was reportedly not at home during the time of attack. Going by an Instagram post, she was with her sister Karisma Kapoor, and producer Rhea Kapoor and her sister, actor Sonam Kapoor on Wednesday night.
A photo that has been posted by Karisma Kapoor on her Instagram shows that Kareena Kapoor had a ‘girl’s night out’ on Wednesday night, where she spent time with her sister, Veere Di Wedding producer Rhea Kapoor and her Veere Di Wedding co-star Sonam Kapoor.
