Actress Detained On Charges Of Running Sex Racket

Mumbai: A Bhojpuri actress was detained on charges of leading a prostitution racket in Mumbai.

Suman Kumari, 24, has been accused of allegedly forcing aspiring models into into prostitution.

She was detained following a raid by Mumbai Police’s Social Service Branch on Friday night, reported Zoomtventertainment.com.

A police officer was quoted as saying they had learned of a prostitution ring which was supplying models for prostitution from Royal Palm Hotel in Goregaon.

Police raided the motel and rescued three women and detained the actress.

“Kumari would supply models to people. These women came to the city to make a career in films but had fallen on hard times and were in need of money to maintain their lifestyle,” an officer stated.

An FIR has been filed under sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA).

The actress is likely to be arrested soon.

Police are searching for a man who is may have served as the intermediary between Kumari and her clients.

Kumari is a popular face in the Bhojpuri film industry. She has acted in movies like ‘Laila Majnu’, ‘Baap Numbari, Beta Dus Numbari’. She has also featured in songs in different languages including Hindi, Punjabi and Bhojpuri.
