Mumbai: The Italian government, headed by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, is debating a proposal to legalise chemical castration for sex offenders in the country.
It seems to have found favour with Preity Zinta. The Bollywood actress took to her X handle to urge the Indian government to implement the same.
The actress reposted a tweet about the proposed law and wrote, “What a fantastic move! Hope @mygovindia also does sometime similar. What do you think folks? It’s high time there is zero tolerance for such crimes.”
Her fans came out in support of Preity and took to the comment section to share their views.
One user wrote, “Zero tolerance policies can indeed make a significant impact in curbing illegal activities.”
Another posted, “Absolutely. Agreed 100%. But what laws are in place for the fake charges? Can we bring similar punishment for that?”
“Pretty Preity is on fire,” shared another.
Another user shared, “Mam, cud have called out when such crimes would have happened in own country instead of echoing for other country’s step.”
Italian lawmakers earlier approved the formation of a committee to draft legislation on utilising androgen-blocking drugs to treat violent sex offenders.
According to reports, PM Meloni’s right-wing administration has been pressing for tougher law and order since they came to power in 2022.
On the work front, Preity is set to make her Bollywood comeback with Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Lahore 1947.’
Produced by Aamir Khan Production,s ‘Lahore 1947’ marks a collaboration between Sunny Deol and Aamir Khan’s Productions.
Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, Sunny Deol and his elder son Karan Deol will also play key roles in the film.
