Actress, Rajya Sabha MP Meet Maha Governor, Request Anurag Kashyap’s Arrest

Mumbai: The actress who had lodged a rape case against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap last week, met Maharashtra Governor BS Koshyari on Tuesday requesting action against the director.

She went along with Rajya Sabha MP and Republican Party of India chief Ramdas Athawale, who had earlier supported the actor’s demand for Kashyap’s arrest.

Briefing reporters  about the meeting with the Governor, Athawale said, “The governor has said he will speak with Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on the issue.”

The duo had also met Mumbai Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Vishwas Nangare Patil on Monday seeking security for the actor. While addressing the media, the actress had said that she is facing a life threat and, hence, called for Y-plus security, which was recently furnished to Kangana Ranaut.

Questing the “delay” in the filmmaker’s arrest, she had also threatened to sit on a hunger strike if Kashyap was not arrested soon.

Anurag Kashyap had vehemently denied the actress’s accusations that he sexually harassed her in 2013, and had called them “baseless”. He had also said that these allegations were an “attempt to silence” him and undermine the seriousness of #MeToo movement.
