Hyderabad: Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh’s brother Aman Preet has been arrested in connection with a drugs case.
Aman Preet, who is also an actor, was among five people nabbed by police following a joint operation by the Narcotics Control Bureau and Rajendra Nagar SOT Police, under Cyberabad Police’s jurisdiction.
Police said at a press meet here on Monday that Aman Preet was among 13 who consumed drugs and tested positive for cocaine, adding that he will soon be produced in court.
“I can only comment with whom Aman is connected to once we investigate the case in detail. We need to check when his association began with the accused, who consist of some Indians and Nigerians. Some of them are repeat offenders. But we believe it might be for a year and a half. Aman tested positive for using cocaine in the urine test,” police told media.
Police have seized 199 grams of cocaine, 2 passports, 2 bikes and 10 cell phones in connection with the drugs bust case.
Onuoha Blessing, Azeez Nohaam Adeshola, Alla Satya Venkata Gowtham, Sanaboina Varun Kumar and Mohd Mahaboob Shareef were arrested as accused peddlers, while Divine Ebuka Suzee and Ezeonyili Franklin Uchenna are absconding.
The police further said that 13 consumers from Hyderabad have thus far been identified who are wealthy and blatantly promoting an ecosystem of drugs in Telangana.
“They are creating a network of supply and demand for drugs in Hyderabad. Out of the 13 consumers, 5 are apprehended who all tested positive for cocaine.
It may be mentioned that Rakul Preet herself was previously summoned by the ED in alleged money-laundering connected to a drugs case.
However, police said Rakul has nothing to do with this case.
“We are not investigating her, her name needn’t be dragged in unnecessarily, so we will not be commenting on it,” the police official said.
