Ganjam: Adarsha Vidyalaya at Nimina in Ganjam district’s Aska was inaugurated on Friday. Spread across 25000 sq feet area, the school is equipped with modern facilities and infrastructure.
Inaugurating the school, Aska MP Ladu Kishore Swain said, “I am hopeful that this school will transform the current education scenario in the district as well as help in the overall development of the children and society”.
The school also includes a dedicated computer room, furnished library, advanced laboratories, staff room, principal’s chamber, prayer and assembly point and separate washrooms for girls and boys on each floor.
It has been built by Tata Steel at a cost of nearly Rs 4.5 crore.
Sourav Roy, Chief CSR, Tata Steel, said they are committed in its efforts to construct 30 Adarsh Vidyalaya in Odisha, with an aim for providing quality infrastructure in the interior parts of the state.
The company has handed over 12 such schools so far, including the present one, to the government authorities, while the rest will be completed soon, he added.
To make quality infrastructure available to students in far-flung areas in the state, in 2016, Tata Steel had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Odisha government to construct 30 Adarsha Vidyalaya (model schools) at an estimated cost of Rs 136 crore across the state. This initiative by the steel major is part of the government’s grand plan of setting up model schools in each block of the state.
Earlier, 11 such schools at Danagadi, Kamakhyanagar, Nayagarh, Korei, Dasarathpur, Dharmashala, Jajpur, Hatadih, Bonaigarh, Jagannath Prasad and Bijepada blocks, built by Tata Steel, were handed over to the state government.
