Nabarangpur: The Additional Inspector In Charge (Addl IIC) of Umerkote police station in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district was nabbed by Vigilance officials late Sunday night while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
Addl IIC Limaraj Pradhan had allegedly sought the bribe from a person to let him off in a family dispute case.
Pradhan had allegedly asked the person to come to the police station with the money after 10 pm. However, to avoid being caught on CCTV cameras, he went to a deserted place outside the police station to collect the bribe. Seeing the Vigilance officials, he tried to hide in nearby bushes and then engaged in a scuffle with them but was overpowered and caught.
