Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch has found no direct or indirect evidence of murder in social activist Aditya Dash’s death case.

In its report submitted with the Orissa High Court, Crime Branch inspector Devi Prasad Das maintained that Das could have committed suicide due to some mental stress. It, however, added that this is not the final report and the investigation is still on.

The Crime Branch also mentioned about an eyewitness, who had seen a person sitting near the platform on July 6. That person’s body was later found on the railway track, the eyewitness had said.

While the post-mortem report revealed that Aditya committed suicide, he was seen going towards Lingaraj Temple railway station alone in CCTV footage. The Handwriting Bureau also found that the handwriting in the suicide note was that of Aditya, the report added.

While positing the next hearing in the case to December 15,  Justice Biswajit Mohanty directed the investigating agency to submit a report mentioning the statement record of Dash’s ex-girlfriend.

Notably, the court had directed the Crime Branch to submit a fresh status report during the next hearing on November 26.

The GRP had initially investigated the case after Aditya was found dead under mysterious circumstances on July 7. Later, DGP Abhay handed over the case to Crime Branch.
