Bhubaneswar: Former Chief Secretary of Odisha Aditya Prasad Padhi on Monday assumed office of the State Election Commissioner (SEC).
Padhi took charge from the outgoing SEC Naba Kumar Nayak.
Briefing the media, the 1983-bath IAS officer, who recently resigned from service, said he would try his best to ensure smooth conduct of the ensuing civic body and panchayat polls.
After handing over the charge to Padhi, the outgoing SEC said preparations for the civic body and the panchayat polls had been completed. The polls, however, were not held in time due to legal issues.
