Bhubaneswar: Final touches are being given to the preparation for the National Tribal Craft Mela or Adivasi Mela 2023 slated to kick start from February 20 in Bhubaneswar.
The annual event, aimed at promoting and celebrating the traditions and handicrafts of the tribes of Odisha, will be held at the Adivasi Exhibition Ground, Unit – I, Bhubaneswar.
Soures said the organisers are now busy in making stalls that include adivasi village, adivasi weekly market, food stalls, and handicraft zone.
The Adivasi Mela, the annual cultural-cum-trade fair, has always been a crowd-puller in the capital city of Odisha. The Mela is scheduled to conclude on March 1.
The fair showcases the colorful tribal art and craft, forest and tribal produces, and tribal cuisines along with stage performances of cultural programs and tribal dances during the evening hours
First held during 1951 at Cuttack, the Adivasi Mela was shifted to Bhubaneswar in 1954.
The fair was shifted to IDCO Exhibition Ground, Unit-III, from 2018 by the state ST and SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare department and this year it is again being held at Adivasi Exhibition Ground, Unit – I.
