Bhubaneswar: The much-awaited annual tribal fair, popularly known as
Adivasi Mela kicked off on Friday but at a different location in IDCO
Exhibition Ground here on Friday. The event was earlier held at the
Adivasi Ground, Unit-1.
Inaugurating the fair being hosted by Scheduled caste and Scheduled
Tribe Development Department, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that
organising the annual fair aims to showcase the tribal life, tradition
and culture of the state.
As many as 145 stalls have been erected in the fair, of which 21
stalls belong to the project areas of Integrated Tribal Development
Agencies of the state, a number of self help groups and non-government
organisations engaged in tribal welfare activities in different parts
of the state have participated in the fair.
The colourful extravaganza showcases 24 tribal villages, tribal
market, food court, tribal agricultural and forest produces. The venue
has been divided into six different segments.
