Jajpur: In another crackdown on adulterated cement manufacturing units in Odisha, police on Sunday seized more than 466 sacks of impure cement from a unit at Singhapur in Jajpur district.
Acting on a tip-off that some unscrupulous persons were engaged in preparing adulterated cement in a godown, a police party raided the unit and stumbled upon huge quantities of adulterated cement packed in several bags having logos of different prominent and branded companies.
Besides the cement bags, equipment and tools used for packing the bags were seized from the spot.
Three persons have been arrested in this connection.
On September 28, police had unearthed a spurious cement manufacturing unit at Jagatpur in Cuttack district.
The owner of the unit, identified as Sadashiv Behera, was arrested.
More than 700 packets of white cement worth lakhs of rupees kept in the factory and equipment used in manufacturing the cement were seized.
Another fake cement manufacturing factory was earlier busted in the same area. Besides, other units manufacturing adulterated edible oil and ghee were also unearthed by police in the recent past in the district.
