Cuttack: Enforcement squad of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) busted an adulterated tea manufacturing unit at Jagatpur on Thursday.
The unit was discovered by the squad while clearing a government land of encroachment in Ward No. 48 at Jagatpur.
Soon after the matter came to light, a team of the Food Safety wing of the CMC arrived at the spot and seized huge quantity of adulterated tea powder, raw material, duplicate labels of branded tea companies, tea packaging and processing machines from the factory.
Samples of the adulterated material were sent for examination and an investigation has been launched against owner of the unit. A police complaint will also be filed in this matter, a CMC official said.
