Puri: After a gap of two years due to COVID restrictions, devotees will be allowed to participate in Akshaya Tritiya and Chandan Yatra celebrations of Lord Jagannath here.
Akshaya Tritiya is scheduled on May 3 while Chandan Yatra will be held from May 16.
Addressing mediapersons SJTA Chief Administrator Vir Vikram Yadav said “As the number of COVID infections has dropped, a decision has been taken to include all devotees in the annual celebrations.” The decision was taken at a meeting of the Chhatisa Nijog held here on Tuesday.
The schedule for Akshaya Tritiya and Chandan Yatra have also been finalised at the meeting.
On the other hand, security has been beefed up inside the temple after the recent incident in the divine kitchen where an outsider had entered and broken 42 chullahs.
It has been decided to install more CCTV cameras inside the temple. Moreover, no servitor will be allowed to take mobiles inside the temple.
