After Ashwini Vaishnaw’s Rap, Delisted Apps Back On Google’s Play Store

New Delhi: After Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told Google that delisting of apps is not permitted, the US tech giant has started restoring some of those on Play Store.

Info Edge was one of the companies which was affected by Google’s decision to remove selected apps following a dispute over payment of service fee. Five of its apps — Naukri.com, Naukri Recruiter, Naukrigulf, 99acres and Shiksha –- had disappeared from Play Store by Saturday morning.

Within 12 hours, three of these apps — Naukri.com, Naukrigulf and 99acres — had been relisted.

A number of matrimonial and dating apps were also removed, one of which — Shaadi.com – is also back.

Vaishnaw had said that the government strongly opposes Google’s move to delist some apps, and will not allow it.

The Union minister had spoken to Google and also the affected companies, calling for a meeting on Monday to resolve the dispute.

However, better sense seems to have prevailed on Google before that.
