Sambalpur: A person, who had recently returned from Uzbekistan, was booked for allegedly violating COVID-19 quarantine guidelines, here on Sunday.
Based on the report of the empowered authority, and preliminary enquiry by police, a case was registered against the defaulter under Sections 188 and 271 of the IPC at Dhanupali police station, sources said.
All foreign-returned individuals are required to undergo 14 days of self-isolation after registering on the Odisha government COVID-19 portal, as a preventive measure against the spread of the deadly virus. The government had earlier warned of strict action against such violation of the quarantine period.
Earlier in the day, similar violations were found and cases registered in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
