Bhubaneswar: After organising a mock wedding of BJD and BJP to expose alleged ‘’nexus’ between the two political parties in Odisha, Congress on Monday held ‘Annaprasana’ ceremony for their ‘children’ in Bhubaneswar.
As per its decision, the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) has made elaborate arrangements for the programme in the state capital.
Congress leaders alleged that Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) now have ten ‘children’ following their union. The ‘children’ of the two parties are in the form of mining scam, chit fund scandal, inflation, crime against women, exploitation by middlemen, irregularities in government schemes, acquisition of tribal land, power issues and sale of government jobs, they claimed.
To highlight all these, Congress decided to organise Annaprasanna – a Hindu ritual passage marking an infant’s first intake of food other than milk.
The satirical move was an attempt to show the changing political landscape with the BJD and BJP extending support to each other and steering clear of major controversies by a covert association, they said.
They further claimed that BJD and BJP are responsible for growing unemployment and have been showing undue favour to contractors from outside Odisha.
Speaking on the satirical ‘Annaprasana’, Congress’ Odisha in-charge Ajoy Kumar lashed out at BJD and BJP and said the party would reach out to the people by raising ten corruptions, including chit fund, mining and government job scams.
“These corruptions have been born out of the two parties and BJD has received mining money through electoral bonds,” he alleged.
After the marriage of the BJP and the BJD, ten babies were born and the first baby is the Chit Fund Scam and the second one is the Mining Scam and son on, Kumar said.
Notably, Congress had organised wedding ceremony for BJD and BJP in Bhubaneswar as well as Sambalpur a few days ago to expose their tacit understanding.
