Balasore: After Cyclone Yaas, people in Odisha’s Balasore district are now battling inundation.
Due to cyclone-induced heavy rain and high tide, flood water entered many villages, including Balaramgadi and Chari Gochhia, marooning families.
A day after the cyclone and subsequent rains gave way to sunny weather, personnel engaged in restoration and relief works released water from some parts of Balaramgadi village. While some people are trying to repair their damaged houses to resume a normal life, many others are still surrounded by water and await help.
The district administration is providing dry food to the marooned.
Overflowing Budhabalanga also disconnected roads and damaged irrigation bridge as well as houses in these villages. “Nearly 700 people have been affected by flood in the village. The water ingression has caused more damage than wind in our village,” said a native of Chari Gochhia village.
