Bhubaneswar: After Delhi and Uttarakhand, the Odisha government on Thursday announced free bus travel for aspirants appearing in the NEET (UG) Re-examination 2026 scheduled to be held on June 21.
Officials said the step was taken following direction by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The move aims to reduce the risk of heatstroke, support economically weaker students, and ensure
fair access to examination centres during the scorching summer month.
Debadutta Suranjita Jena, Special Secretary, Commerce & Transport Department, has written to the Chairman-cum- Managing Director, OSRTC, Bhubaneswar and the Transport Commissioner, STA, Cuttack, regarding the provision of Free Bus Travel for the aspirants appearing for the NEET (UG) Re-exam-2026 conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).
Aspirants can travel free on government buses on production of their valid NEET Admit Card. The facility covers travel to all 134 examination centres spread across the state. It will benefit around 56,983 candidates.
Notably, the Delhi and Uttarakhand governments had earlier announced free travel in state-run buses for NEET (UG) Re-exam 2026 aspirants.
The NEET-UG 2026 examination, the gateway to MBBS courses, was initially held on May 3 but was later cancelled by the National Testing Agency following allegations of irregularities. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently probing the matter.
