Baripada: Amid public outrage over Dhauli gang-rape case, reports of a five year-old girl being sexually abused has now emerged from Baripada in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
According to sources, the incident took place under Sadar police limits on Monday and came to light after a case was registered on Tuesday. The girl has been admi
tted to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital here for treatment and her condition is stated to be stable.
Meanwhile, police have arrested 24 year-old Dilip Hembram, a resident of Dhenkinenjia in Baripada Sadar. As a neighbor and relative of the child, he was apprehended on the basis of a complaint lodged by her father.
According to the complainant, the accused approached the 5-year-old around 3 pm on Monday when she was alone at home. Hembram allegedly lured her out of the house to an isolated place with biscuits and sexually assaulted her. Hearing her loud screams, another female relative rushed to the spot and raised an alarm. Following which, the girl’s mother also reached the spot and they rescued the child.
