Bhubaneswar: Several places in Odisha capital reported moderate fog for the second consecutive day on Thursday (February 3).
Notably, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued yellow warning for dense fog at one or two places in Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nayagarh and Cuttack till 8.30 am on February 3.
Dense fog reducing visibility below 200 metres to 50 metres was reported from Balasore, Jajpur and Gopalpur. G Uadaygiri was the coldest place in Odish at 9.6 degree Celsius followed by Daringbadi and Similiguda at 10 degree celsius and Phulbani at 10.7 degree Celsius.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded a minimum temperature of 18 degree Celsius and 17.5 degree Celsius.
With approaching western disturbance and moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal at lower level, the state is now likely to experience rain for two days starting February 3. The MeT office has also forecast isolated thunderstorm accompanied by hail for some districts of Odisha during this period.
While light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at a few places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Bargarh between 8.30 am on February 3 and 8.30 am on February 4, yellow warning for thunderstorm with lighting has been issued for one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh and Mayurbhanj.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places in North Odisha and a few places in South Odisha during the subsequent 24 hours. Alert has been issued as one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj are likely to experience thunderstorm and lightning.
Hailstorm is also likely to occur at one or two places in Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore during this period.
