Malkangiri: After extending welfare schemes to the people of Kota Panchayat of Pottangi Tehsil in Odisha’s Koraput district, the Andhra Pradesh government has now set its eyes on the bordering villages in Malkangiri district.
If reports are to be believed, a team of doctors from Andhra Pradesh is providing free healthcare services to the people of some of the villages along the Odisha-AP border in Chitrakonda block of Malkangiri. Besides, patients are also being shifted in ambulance to the bordering district of Andhra Pradesh for free treatment.
“No doctor from Malkangiri visit our village even as people suffer from fever, cough, cold and diarrhoea. On the other hand, doctors from Andhra Pradesh are providing us free treatment. They are also arranging for transport of patients to the primary health centres (PHCs) to a village in Andhra Pradesh. We have no other option but to entirely depend on the neighbouring state to address our health problems,” said Mana Khila and Suresh Pangi of a remote village in Chitrakonda block.
However, senior officials of Malkangiri district could not be contacted on this issue.
