Bhubaneswar: After male lion ‘Pichhan’, Nandankanan Zoological Park on Monday lost a leopard named ‘Barsa’.
The 14-year-old leopard died due to illness at around 5 pm, sources said.
It has been suffering from recurrent rectal prolapse since August 2019 and was treated for prolapsed on December 21. It was shifted to the zoo hospital for treatment this morning for showing signs of nervousness and respiratory distress terminally.
The leopard was brought to the zoo after being rescued from Chandaka when it was three months old.
Following its death, the zoo is now left with only four male and two female leopards.
On Saturday, 21-year-old ‘Pichhan’ had died of age- related illness.
