Berhampur: A 52-year-old man in Odisha’s Berhampur brought home a silicone statue of his late wife, after losing her to Covid in April 2021.
The saree-clad statue of businessman Prashant Kumar Nayak’s late wife Kiran has been placed on a sofa in his living room.
A Bengaluru-based sculptor took around one and half a year to create the lifelike statue using fibre, rubber, and silicone which cost around Rs 8 lakh, said Prashant.
The statue was installed in their home before the couple’s elder daughter’s wedding and helps the family feel Kiran’s presence at all times.
Prashant and Kiran were married in 1997 and have three children, including two daughters and a son. Their younger daughter Mehak takes care of the statue by frequently changing sarees and ornaments.
“We gave several photographs of our mother to the sculptor, visited Bengaluru, and consulted with him on video calls to ensure perfection,” said Mehak.
The family is happy and feels the presence of Kiran around the statue installed in their house. They thanked the sculptor for his work, which helped them keep her memories alive.
