Bhubaneswar: After recovering over Rs 351 crore during its week-long raids against a liquor group in Odisha, a team of Income Tax department officials again visited the distillery manufacturing unit in Boudh district on Thursday.
As per reports, team of I-T officials carried out searches again at Boudh Distillery Private Limited (BDPL) in Titirikata under Harbhanga block of Boudh district.
The I-T officials reached the liquor plant in two vehicles in the morning and carried out raid at the office of BDPL for further probe, sources said. However, the exact nature of the ongoing operation was still not clear.
It may be noted here that the liquor manufacturer was first raided on December 6. The week-long searches were carried out at multiple locations as part of the operation against the Odisha-based distillery group owned by the family of a Congress MP from Jharkhand.
Sources said that during the marathon raids, the I-T sleuths had picked three BDPL employees for questioning and seized several important documents, a pen drive, and some electronic gadgets, apart from the huge cash.
Simultaneous raids were conducted by separate teams of I-T sleuths at different locations associated with the BDPL. The raids were conducted at places linked to the distillery company in Boudh, Balangir, Rayagada, and Sambalpur including its registered offices at Kolkata and Ranchi.
Personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) were deployed to assist the raid teams.
