Melbourne: Just three months after Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead, another celebrated Punjabi singer Nirvair Singh passed away under tragic circumstances.
The 42-year-old Nirvair, whose track Tere Bina from the album My Turn rose to the top of popularity charts, was involved in a horrific three-vehicle accident near Melbourne and breathed his last on Tuesday.
According to media reports, the incident took place at Melbourne suburb Diggers Rest when a speeding car lost control and hit a jeep, which flipped into Nirvair’s lane and crashed into his vehicle. Such was the intensity and impact of the collision that Nirvair died on the spot.
Police said Nirvair — who had moved to Australia nine years ago — was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Before hitting the jeep, the offending out-of-control car collided with two other vehicles as well.
The Punjabi music industry was in a state of shock following the sudden and untimely demise of Nirvair, while netizens expressed their grief.
“Your song was the best song in our album ‘My Turn’, from which we all started our careers. You were a very good person and your departure was a shock for everyone in Melbourne. RIP bro,” fellow-singer Gagan Sandhu Kokri wrote in social media.
Some of Nirvair’s other superhit songs are Je Russgi, Ferrari Dream and Hikk Thok Ke — a 2018 duet with Gurlez Akhtar.
