After Music Teacher’s Misdemeanour, Cricket Coach Drugs Minor Trainee & Sexually Assaults Her

Kanpur: In a most despicable n unpardonable act, a cricket coach allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl who was learning the game under his supervision near Kanpur, police said.

The coach, associated with a cricket academy, is absconding.

An FIR has been lodged against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), said additional deputy commissioner of police (Addl DCP), Central Vijyendra Dwivedi.

A resident of Gangaganj, the coach allegedly lured the minor to his colony after a training session at the academy and drugged her before pouncing on her.

According to a police official, he abused her for two months before the girl confided in her mother. A complaint was then lodged at Panki police station.

The accused also allegedly blackmailed the girl with social ostracisation and subjected her to caste-based slurs to intimidate her, te complaint stated.

A similar case shook Kanpur a few days ago when a music teacher of a reputed school was accused of molesting a four-year-old student in Gujaini area. He has been arrested, and an investigation is underway.
