New Delhi: Disney+ Hotstar is set to do a Netflix, by limiting account sharing in India.
At present, a premium account of Disney+ Hotstar allows users to log in from up to 10 devices. Now, the OTT platform is planning to bring in a policy of only four logins per account later this year.
Disney+ Hotstar aims to address the issue of password sharing and promote individual subscriptions, ensuring a fair and sustainable revenue model.
With competition hotting up among streaming services in India, it’s only natural that OTT platforms will look to increase revenue.
Disney+ Hotstar is conducting internal tests to gauge the effectiveness of their new policy.
Netflix started charging users extra to share their passwords with people outside their household from May 2023.
