Bhubaneswar: The state Health Department on Sunday said that it had sought data of children in the 15-18 age group in Odisha after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced vaccination for children from January 3.

“We have sought district-wise details of children in the 15-18 age group. We have sufficient manpower to conduct the vaccination drive,” state Health Services Director Bijay Mohapatra said on Sunday.

Modi also announced booster doses for senior citizens and frontline workers from January 10. Mohapatra said that the state Health Department will plan accordingly once the detailed guidelines are received.

The PM’s announcement came amid rising Omicron cases in the country.

Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin on Saturday got approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for emergency use in the 12-18 age group.
