Cuttack: The continuing crackdown on adulterated units saw the Commissionerate Police raiding a spurious ghee and edible oil manufacturing unit at Gabagasta under Sadar police limits in Cuttack late on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, a special team of Malgodown and Sadar police raided a house and seized huge quantity of fake ghee, edible oil, machines worth lakhs, some chemical and colour essence and packaging materials bearing logos of various brands.
The owner of the unit and two others have been detained for questioning while the manufacturing unit has been sealed.
Further investigation is underway.
Earlier, police had raided a fake spice manufacturing unit and seized over 50 quintals of adulterated turmeric and chilli powder from Jagatpur area on November 14 and busted an illegal factory allegedly manufacturing adulterated chilli and turmeric powder in Malgodown area on November 11.
