Bhubaneswar: Kyiv came under bombardment during the second day of Russia’s military offensive in Ukraine. A rocket crashed into a residential building. A CCTV camera from inside one of the apartments even captured the exact moment when it struck the building.
Following this, Ukraine Interior Ministry took to Twitter to share a picture comparing the 9/11 attack in the US and the Russian invasion of Ukraine with a hashtag, #StopRussia. The picture of the World Trade Center’s twin towers in New York City in 2001 with smoke billowing from it has been juxtaposed with a residential building damaged in Kyiv in the post.
It was for the first time that a missile struck a residential building in Kyiv since Russian troops launched an attack on Ukraine on Thursday with explosions before dawn in the capital and other cities.
On September 11, 2001, 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al Qaeda hijacked four planes and deliberately crashed two into the upper floors of the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center complex and a third plane into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.
Earlier, the official Twitter account of Ukraine had posted a caricature of Adolf Hitler smiling at Russian President Vladimir Putin, and wrote: “This is not a ‘meme’, but our and your reality right now.”
