New Delhi: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has recently expressed strong support for global conservative leaders, notably Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and U.S. President Donald Trump. In her virtual address to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington, D.C., Meloni criticized the perceived double standards of the political left, highlighting the collaborative efforts of conservative leaders worldwide.
Meloni emphasized that while figures like Bill Clinton and Tony Blair were lauded as statesmen for establishing a global liberal network in the 1990s, contemporary conservative leaders are often labeled as threats to democracy for similar collaborations. She stated, “When Bill Clinton and Tony Blair created the global leftist liberal network in the 90s, they were called statesmen. Today, when Trump, Meloni, Milei, or maybe Modi talk, they are called a threat to democracy.”
Addressing the criticism faced by conservatives, Meloni remarked, “This is the left’s double standard, but we are used to it. And the good news is, people no longer believe in their lies.” She further noted that despite the opposition’s efforts, citizens continue to support conservative leaders, stating, “Despite all the mud they throw at us, citizens keep voting for us.”
Meloni’s remarks underscore a growing alliance among conservative leaders across the globe, aiming to challenge the prevailing liberal narratives and policies. Her support for Modi and Trump reflects a broader trend of right-leaning governments seeking to strengthen ties and present a united front on issues such as national sovereignty, immigration, and cultural identity.
This development indicates a significant shift in international political dynamics, with conservative leaders increasingly collaborating to promote shared values and policy objectives on the world stage.
