Agni-5 Missile Test-Fired Off Odisha Coast

Balasore: India on Sunday successfully tested its nuclear-capable surface-to-surface missile, Agni-5, from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Dr Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha’s Balasore district.

The missile was tested from launch pad number 4 at around 9:50 am.

The nuclear-capable surface-to-surface missile was fired at a strike range of 5, 000 km. The missile has the capacity to cover almost all parts of China.

This was for the sixth time the missile was test-fired successfully. It was last tested on January 18 this year.

Agni-5 is the most advanced missile in the Agni series, owing to its navigation and guidance, warhead and engine. The missile has been designed in a manner that after reaching the peak of its trajectory it will head down to the earth’s surface, towards the target, with enhanced speed because of the gravitational pull, sources said.
