Agni-II missile test fired

Balasore: India successfully test fired its Agni-II ballistic missile from APJ Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha coast at 10:23 am on Thursday.

The test did not meet all the desired parameters, official sources said.

The user trial of the 21-metre high medium-range ballistic missile was conducted by the Strategic Forces Command (a specially raised missile handling unit of the Indian Army).

The missile, weighing 17 tonne, has two solid fuel stages and a Post Boost Vehicle integrated into the missile’s Re-entry Vehicle. Having a strike range of 2,000-3,000 km, the missile is capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads of 150 to 250 kilo tonne, defence sources said.
