Jeypore: Vigilance sleuths detained an agriculture officer in Jeypore district with unaccountable cash of Rs 11.31 lakh on Thursday. The officer was charged with amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The accused has been identified as Pradeep Kumar Mohanty serving in the capacity of chief agriculture officer. Mohanty was intercepted while traveling to Bhubaneswar after being transferred from Jeypore.
According to the vigilance sleuths, they acted on a tip-off about the officer’s travel plan to Bhubaneswar from Jeypore with a huge amount of cash in his private Innova. The vigilance officials intercepted his vehicle at Deoghati near Jeypore. During raid, Rs 11.31 lakh cash was found from the car.
The investigation is currently underway.
