Mumbai: Ahaan Panday, who made a strong debut with Mohit Suri’s romantic musical ‘Saiyaara’ and gained significant attention and acclaim, is gearing up to reunite with the director for another romantic drama.
According to Variety India, Ahaan will be playing the lead in Suri’s next, to be produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF).
“Mohit finished writing the plot for his new film, a romcom with an older guy and a younger girl. But that didn’t work out with the actor he had in mind. It was Aditya Chopra who suggested he make another rom-com with Ahaan. Si
nce his second film is an action film in which he plays a gangster, the producer felt that the duo returning with romance is something the audiences would lap up,” the report stated.
Several names were being considered for the film before Ahaan has been finalised for the upcoming venture.
“Presently, Mohit is rewriting the script to fit Ahaan. The film is expected to go on floors by the end of this year,” the report further mentioned.
Ahaan is currently shooting for Ali Abbas Zafar’s action romance, which also features Sharvari, Aaishvary Thackeray, Bobby Deol and Jimmy Shergill in key roles.
‘Saiyaara’, which hit theatres last July, emerged as a major box-office success.
The romantic drama went on to earn Rs 577 crore worldwide, becoming the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 and the highest-grossing romantic film in Indian cinema.
The film also propelled its lead actors to overnight fame, especially among younger audiences.
