New Delhi: Despite BSE Sensex and Nifty opening in green, the Indian equities traded cautiously ahead of the Union Budget 2024 presentation on Tuesday.
Sensex remained flat at 80,384.82, a drop of 0.15% or 117.26 points around 10.16 am. Nifty drops to 24,454.10, a 0.23% drop of 55.15 points around the same time.
Sensex had climbed over 250 points as markets opened at 9.15 am. But, the gains in the early trading were wiped out.
Sensex closed at 80,502.08 while the NSE benchmark ended at 23,537.85 on Monday.
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices were trading in the red till the filing of the report. Among sectors, selling was seen across IT, metal, oil and gas, and media names, while buying was seen across capital goods, FMCG, power and realty stocks.
Finance Minsiter Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Budget 2024 around 11 am in Parliament for the seventh consecutive time.
According to reports, she had reached the Parliament and called on President Draupadi Murmu with her team to brief her about the Budget. The Budget papers had already arrived at the Parliament.
