New York: Ahead of Christmas, stranded NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore turned Santa on board the International Space Station. Following issues with their Boeing Starliner capsule, the two astronauts have been stranded for more than six months in space.
“Another day, another sleigh. NASA astronauts Don Pettit and Sunita Williams pose for a fun holiday season portrait while speaking on a ham radio inside the Space Station’s Columbus laboratory module,” NASA wrote on X along with a photo of the two astronauts.

Earlier on Monday, holiday gifts and other supplies were delivered to the ISS via a SpaceX Dragon craft. Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore have been ‘stranded’ in space since June, this year. Their return to Earth has been delayed further, and the two astronauts won’t return before end-March.
“I like everything about being up here…Just living in space is super fun,” said Williams to elementary school students from her hometown, earlier this month.
