Ahead Of IPL 2025, Yuzvendra Chahal & Dhanashree Verma Are Officially Divorced

Mumbai: Team India cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his estranged wife Dhanashree Verma, a choreographer, are officially divorced.

On Thursday, the couple was granted divorce by the Bandra family court on a joint petition filed by mutual consent.

“The court has granted the decree of divorce. The court has accepted the joint petition of both parties. The parties are no longer husband and wife,” Advocate Nitin Kumar Gupta, representing Chahal, was quoted as saying by India Today.

After the ruling, Chahal was spotted leaving the court flaunting a black T-shirt with the words ‘be your own sugar daddy’ written on it.

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday directed the family court to put the divorce case on fast track considering Chahal’s IPL 2025 commitments.

As per reports, Chahal will be paying Dhanashree an alimony of Rs 4.75 crore as terms of settlement.

The family court had initially refused to waive the cooling-off period, stating that mediation efforts had been partially followed by the couple.

Subsequently, Chahal and Dhanashree filed a joint petition in the Bombay High Court, seeking an exemption from the mandatory cooling-off period.

The couple, who has been living separately since June 2022, had filed for divorce on February 5, 2025.

Chahal will play for Punjab Kings, which acquired him for Rs 18 crore in the December mega auction for IPL 2025.

Punjab Kings will open their campaign against Gujarat Titans on March 25, in Ahmedabad.
