Ahead Of Odisha-Andhra CMs’ Meeting, Pradhan Hopeful Of Amicable Solution To Disputes

Bhubaneswar: Union Minister of Education and Skill Development Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday said he was hopeful that an amicable solution will emerge to the border, language and water disputes between the two states in the upcoming meeting between the chief ministers of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will arrive here tomorrow to meet his Odisha counterpart, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Both the leaders will discuss various disputes between the neighbours, primarily border, language and water issues.

Terming the upcoming meeting as significant, Pradhan tweeted that he had written to the Andhra Pradesh CM on September 22 and again on October 1, drawing his attention to the issues and requesting him to personally intervene and help resolve them.

Andhra Pradesh too stakes claim to the villages in Kotia region of Odisha, resulting in a territorial dispute between the two neighbours, which leads to tension.

Naveen and Jaganmohan will also discuss the issue of submergence and displacement of families because of the Polavaram Project and the construction of Neradi barrage across the Vamsadhara.
