New Delhi: Nirali, a pure vegetarian woman living in Ahmedabad’s Science City, ordered a Paneer Tikka sandwich using a food-delivery app from ‘Pick Up Meals by Terra’ on May 3. A chicken sandwich was delivered instead.
After eating a few bites, she realised that the paneer’s texture was harder than usual. Initially, she thought it was soya, but it turned out to be chicken, NDTV reported.
Nirali, who has never eaten non-vegetarian food, has filed a complaint against the eatery for damages. She has written to the Deputy Health Officer of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
Following the incident, the Food Department imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the eatery. The woman told India Today that this was a “dreadful” incident and cannot be taken back. “Rs 5,000 is not enough and I will go to the consumer court,” she added.
Nirali said she would seek justice from the customer court and demand a compensation of Rs 50 lakh and if the damages amount is higher, even then it wouldn’t do justice to what she felt.
The eatery is yet to give a statement, the report added.
