Bhubaneswar: Sports Hostel Odisha added a new feather to its cap as it secured a 3-star rating in the latest accreditation report released by the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
The State Sports & Youth Service department had decided to undergo the AIFF academy accreditation process last year to provide a strong pathway towards becoming professionals for the football inmates of its sports hostels.
Due to the efforts of the state government, the Football Sports Hostel was given AIFF academic accreditation with a 2-star rating last year.
To further improve in all the aspects that are required as part of the AIFF accreditation process, the department improved its football infrastructure along with other facilities which has resulted in a 3-star rating this year.
Last year, the Sports Hostel Odisha was registered as the first football academy in Odisha by the AIFF.
Both the U-18 and U-15 football teams of the Sports Hostel Odisha had participated in Youth I-League for the 2017-18 season and performed admirably.
As the state government has put in a lot of effort to ensure that the sports hostels produces increasing numbers of professional players in the coming years, the Sports & Youth Services Department has set its sight on turning the Sports Hostel Odisha into one of the top academies in the country.
