AIIMS-Bhubaneswar Convocation: Union Health Minister Urges Odisha Govt To Implement Ayushman Bharat Scheme

Bhubaneswar: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday urged Odisha government to implement Ayushman Bharat scheme of the Centre in order to provide cashless hospitalisation to the beneficiaries.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the 4th annual convocation of All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) at Bhubaneswar, the Union Minister said his ministry has also written to the state government in this regard.

In his address at the convocation, Mandaviya said it is a major achievement for a student to be a doctor. “Around 20 lakh aspirants appear at NEET in our country every year. Of them, around 92,000 qualify to take admission in MBBS course and very of them can pursue medical science in AIIMS,” he said.

Stating that convocation day holds significance in the career of a student, he said now they would become professionals and the learning process would continue for them for their entire life. “The society holds a doctor in high esteem and when one introduces himself as a doctor from AIIMS, he elicits admiration. Now that you are going to be AIIMS doctors, you should follow the moral value and ethics associated with the institution as the principles of your profession,” he advised.

Stating that AIIMS-Bhubaneswar has carved a significant place for itself in medical science, the Union Minister said the students should keep up its high standard in their pursuit of academic activities and research. He called upon them to focus on development of holistic health which includes physical as well as mental health.

Mandaviya also inaugurated the NTPC Burn Centre at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar in presence of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of State Bharati P Pawar and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi on the occasion.
