Bhubaneswar: The dharamshala (shelter home) at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, will soon be ready and is likely to be inaugurated by March.
According to sources, furniture and kitchen appliances remain to be installed at the facility, which attendants can avail till a patient admitted to the hospital is discharged.
The work on the shelter home began in 2018, in collaboration with Nalco. The burn centre, which was built simultaneously, was inaugurated on January 7. The COVID pandemic and some administrative issues, however, delayed completion of the shelter home, the source added.
In the absence of a shelter, the attendants have to spend nights near the OPD front office and emergency ward of the hospital and also in the open on the hospital premises. The hardship multiplied during winter and rains.
